Seated Dollar
i have a larger than dollar size coin with a seated liberty with no date, on the back it reads one troy ounce?
it also has .999 and a wreath with ribbons outlining the back of the coin, what is it and what is it's value ?
You have what is called in the hobby a "silver round", it is not a coin but actually is a medal. It is an easy way to buy and hold silver, The designs on them also help add a little more value, mostly for the dealers. While most Seated Liberty dollars are out of reach for most collectors due to cost a one ounce silver copy is not. True they are larger than a real silver dollar but that puts them into the size of say, The American Silver Eagle which has a denomination as is considered a coin. When you sell it, the dealer will look up the spot price of silver that day and will deduct a percentage for his profit then give you the difference. They are collectible but are not a good investment for the collectible part, only the silver. So it is best to buy them as close to silver spot as one can and not pay extra for the design.
